all'd Robin Goodfellow: are not you he
That frights the maidens of the villagery;
Skim milk, and sometimes labour in the quern
And bootless make the breathless housewife churn;
And sometime make the drink to bear no barm;
Mislead night-wanderers, laughing at their harm?
Those that Hobgoblin call you and sweet Puck,
You do their work, and they shall have good luck:
Are not you he?

Puck is a trickster, the facilitator of a series of absurd events in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on behalf of the monarchs of Faery that he serves - King Oberon and Queen Titania. His name is deeply ingrained from that role, though the concept of a mischievous nature spirit, called a pooka in Ireland, far predates him. Pooka is the guy that turns into a horse and lures a rider to mount him, only to carry him into a river to drown. Being a shapeshifter, he embodies the unpredictability of nature and in most stories, serves to teach lessons or otherwise challenge the hero

In this painting, Puck poses in the twilight gardens of King Oberon while one of his spies tells him of human activity in the woods.

The model's name is Octavier - a professional model friend. I actually used his body from one shot and his head from another since I liked the combination of pose and face, the same technique I used to create Caprica Six.

The fantastic background comes from a photo by :iconpedjalayastock:

Ah yes, the mischievous Puck, servant of King Oberon. I remember watching the movie.

Wonderfully composed well organised!....I love his body form, ıt shows how he can change the vision...A magic light at background shines. The atmsophere is really reminds "a midsummer nights dream"...Bravo!

Beautiful work. I've been toying with the idea of doing something myself for a while based around Puck.

You forgot to mention two other famous pookas, namely Harvey, the giant rabbit companion of Elwood P. Dowd (here's my card); and Pooh, the bear of many of our childhoods :)
