For generations, the immortal Sacred Twins have been held in Posiedonaea, the capital of the vast Atlantean Empire. Legend says they fell as two stars into this land, and sealed government documents reveal their power to transform living matter restores youth, alters appearances, and creates supernatural abilities in those they touch. It is no wonder they have been prisoners in the temple of Posiedon, a gilded cage where their gifts might benefit the Kings.

Tonight, their captivity comes to an end as their people decend from the stars to bring them back home, and once-proud Atlantis will pay a terrible price for their enslavement.

This painting finds Atlantis sleeping in the middle of the night while the storm bringing the Shining Ones comes to reclaim their people. Stars fall on the city to sow confusion. The statue of the citys' patron, Posiedon, is black and featureless - for he has long ago abandoned the Atlanteans for their corruption.

The Twins, garbed as priests, wear special chastity devices to ensure they're metamorphic powers are not passed on to the unworthy. They are adorned in gold and star-sapphires, gilded puppets used as political tools to distract the oppressed common people. One of them, Feochadan, tearfully dares to hope their rescue is at hand, while his brother Gliadrachan gives thanks and prays that the innocent are spared.

The model for the twins is my friend Kevin who is an actor, poet, model and all around creative guy. His expressiveness, open-mindedness and attention to detail make him one of my favorite models to date. You'll be seeing more of him. Here is his DA [link]

The detail work made this painting the longest I've ever done.

Non, Je ne regrette rien...
Very interesting concept. Is this an actual myth of some sort, or a short creative story behind the piece? Because if it is myth, I'm not familiar with it. (of course, my strength lies in the Norse mythos over the Greek.)

In either case, the colors and the details of this piece is amazing. I'm especially fond of the outfits that the twins are wearing, and the gold/orange/red color scheme. Is that a bonfire in the lower left corner, or has lightning struck there? :0

I Like Loki~
This is clearly a significant work on your part.
Really terrific result.

And I love their cod pieces (or chastity devices as you say). Real attention getters. :-)
I like that their dresses deliberately show off their pubes. Not just because it's erotic, but it just makes sense - well-designed adornments always show off or enhance a certain body part. Very cool.

Never knock on Death's door; ring the doorbell and run (he hates that)
Nice piece.

I'm not surprised that this has taken a long time to complete... It's rich with detail and things to set the mood.
beautiful creation; you have such a wonderful imaginative writing style - are you going to produce a graphic novel?
